What a Boiled Egg Teaches Us About Spiritual Growth
A few minutes can completely change the texture of a boiled egg. At one stage, the yolk is silky and liquid. A little later, it becomes rich and jammy. Given more time, it turns firm and fully set. The remarkable thing is that the change happens gradually, often in ways that are difficult to notice moment by moment. Yet those small increments of time produce dramatically different results.
Spiritual growth often works the same way.
Many people expect God to transform their lives instantly. Sometimes He does bring sudden breakthroughs, but more often He shapes character through consistent exposure to His presence over time. Just as an egg changes while remaining in the heat, believers are transformed as they remain connected to Christ through prayer, Scripture, worship, and obedience.
A person who spends a few minutes each day with God may not notice a dramatic difference after a single morning. But weeks, months, and years later, the changes become unmistakable. Patience replaces impulsiveness. Faith overcomes fear. Compassion grows where selfishness once ruled. What appears to be a small investment of time produces a completely different outcome.
The boiled egg also reminds us that God works uniquely in each life. Some people prefer a soft center; others prefer a firm yolk. In the same way, God is not producing identical copies of believers. He is shaping each person according to His purpose while conforming all of us to the character of Christ.
The key is remaining under His care long enough for the work to be completed. Too often we want to leave the process before God has finished what He started. Yet Scripture assures us that He is faithful to complete His work in us.
Bible Verses
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” — Galatians 6:9
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 1:6
“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” — 2 Peter 3:18
Take the Next Step
Identify one spiritual habit you can practice consistently this week.
Spend a few extra minutes each day in God’s Word, even if the results are not immediately visible.
Trust that God is working in your life during the ordinary moments, not just the extraordinary ones.
Thank Him for the progress He is making, even when the transformation feels slow.
Growth rarely happens all at once. Like the changing stages of a boiled egg, small amounts of time in the right environment can produce a remarkable transformation.

Very well put!
